Jungle scent

The nose calls

Can you smell it too?

When was the last time you have been thinking about your nose? Yes, that thing in the middle of your face. At the end of the day, what smells have you encountered? Which lady´s parfume do you remember - can you describe it? Or do you surrender to more pressing questions, like: how good have I been at work today - did I get closer to my goals?

“La vie est une rose”

I don´t know where this saying originated, but it makes sense to me. I just did not give a second thought to it until one day I had an urge to fill my room with scent. Its like when your body calls for sex, or when your skin calls for a shower, or when your stomach calls for food, or when your eyes call for sunlight. It is just another call from the body, but seldom you consciously make the link from any of your perceived needs to the demands of your nose, do you?

From the perspective of my nose, there are many dry seasons and only a few scarce moments of jubilation. Life is busy. And people are busy reminding each other of how busy they are. To bear the stress, we tell each other how important it is to strike a balance, so we do not to loose touch of our body, our senses. Here is where my nose plays an important part. Exposing my nose to scent frees it from the mostly sterile context in which it lives.

Before I could make any choices, such as buying a scent candle or some japanese oil or escaping into the nearest forest or to the river side, it was my birthday and there comes the longed for dose of scent - in the form of a pillow. A sleeping pillow filled with herbes. I´ve got a mix of herbs - valerian, Saint-John's-worth, lavender. In bed, I couch myself on a jungle floor. A decent scent of jungle flavor arises from it and puts me to dreams.
