Worthless G8-summit resolution on terrorism

Via seattlepi.com:

The leaders of the G8 countries expressed outrage over deadly bombings of commuter trains last week in Bombay, India, that killed 182 people. Leaders strengthened their resolve to fight terrorism “by all legitimate means.”

This reaction sounds understandable, but it is stupid, ignorant, plain junk.

If someone bombs my car, we punish back. That´s ok. If someone provokes Zinedine Zidane, he might head-butt you. That´s ok. If my neighbour throws foul apples into my garden, i might pee on his dog. That´s ok. If someone punches you in the face, you may punch back. That´s why we have boxing. We celebrate competition in the ring. We know it is quiet instinctive to react with brute force in reaction to harm or threat. It is human to feel aggression and to fight.

But why in the world would 8 leaders of nations proclaim that they want to fight against terrorism? What do they stand to gain by saying this? What´s the news here? It´s like saying that despite lower birth rates, we are resolved to continue to have good sex, “by all legitimate means”. This is stray logic.

Why can´t they focus on making the world a better place?

Love thy enemy.
Understand your enemy.
Punish your enemy if he harms you.
But NEVER fight your enemy.

The world is crowded. Like a beehive, whereever you throw a stone, you flame up new aggression. Don´t give them a fight, give them honey. But of course, the 8 leaders of wealthy nations are not man enough to appear unmanly.
