I like Salma Hayek´s straight connection to god aphrodisiac.
I guess that as a non-religious actor you allow your own character to be shaped more by the roles you play than a religious actor. When your thoughts and emotions are not hard-wired to a religious dogma, then you probably allow yourself more room to surrender to the ideas of a story you play in. That does not mean that you can't achieve a very good performance as a religious actor. But your own purpose in life is probably less tolerant to be shaped by your roles.
To me God is just a way of talking to yourself. You can't disprove God, you can only hide from yourself. Yet the lack of a real God is nothing to worry about, as Richard Dawkins asserts. In this video, he talks about god and his new book The God Delusion.
